I am excited to share the completion of a new wood inlay pattern which I am calling “La Raza Uno.”
Due in part to my travels in Central America and my work within the Latin American community of Washington DC, there is a special place in heart for “La Raza,” the term of strength Latin Americans use for themselves.
As I have been sorting through my Grandpa’s stock, I have noticed a number of woods from Latin America. The idea came to me then to do a pattern using only woods from this area of the world.
And so “La Raza Uno” was born!
The pattern includes the following woods (beginning from the outside and moving in):
1) grevilla 2) nogal 3) block pattern of guayacan, rosewood, and cedrillo 4) mahogany 5) incino (middle piece) then mahogany, block pattern, nogal, grevilla (or same woods in reverse)
I am so thrilled with how the pattern turned out and am looking forward to making more patterns focused on other regions of the world.
