Journaling Anyone?

This is a fun project that I have been thinking about doing for awhile but needed to find the right “canvas.”

I picked up a couple of small journals with gray paper pages and cardboard binders which would lend themselves to excellent surfaces for inlay.

I worked on the back first.

I especially like the way the locust piece near the bottom right “pops.”

Then I worked on the front, making sure to leave a gap so the journal could be opened!

I realized that the slot could be used to hold a pen, pencil, or other writing utensil.

This particular design style of working with inlay in a kind of jigsaw puzzle is a process I have been experimenting with. It is difficult in some ways, but rewarding and definitely unique. I am excited about making more journals!
