Fireside Chats – A Mantle for Friends

I just finished up a fun project for my friends, Eddie and Theresa, who wanted me to make them a mantle for their basement fireplace.

I found the perfect rough hewn 2×8 pine board at Community Forklift.

I added additional pine from my stock to make a back ledge.

I trimmed the edges with inlay patterns that I made recently. I chose inlay patterns that I thought would match the brick.

Then I finished everything with several coats of poly.

What a thrill to see it in its place!!!
