This project was inspired by a template my dad made which he gave me several years ago.
It is a Nativity Scene within a heart cut out of a single solid piece of wood with a bandsaw.
At first, I simply wanted to see how the scene would look as inlay so I traced each half on an inlay pattern, cut the excess out with a bandsaw, and then glued the halves together.
I got a box from my stock that had the perfect sized top.
Then I decided to use the same pattern I used for the scene as the inlay top.
I added two other patterns on the end to finish the top.
Then I carefully matched the scene with the inlay top pattern to create a 3D effect.
The perfect box to store a Nativity Scene!
